Speed limits
The speed limit for motor vehicles with a maximum weight not exceeding 3,500 kg outside urban area is 90 km/h. Vehicles exceeding 3,500 kg may go 80 km/h. The speed limit for motor vehicles of weight up to 3,500 kg on motorways is 110 km/h or 130 km/h. The maximum speed in urban area is 50 km/h; on motorways in this case it is 80 km/h.
Daytime running lights
A motor vehicle in motion has always to have its low beam or daytime headlights lit
Alcohol
It is prohibited to drink alcohol before or while driving. No amount of alcohol in the blood is tolerated.
Motorways and tolls
All vehicles with four wheels and a maximum weight of 3.5 tons have an obligation to purchase an electronic vignette. The obligation does not include towed vehicles and motorcycles. https://edalnice.cz/en/index.html#/validation
While driving in Czech Republic you are required by law to carry the following items (essential kit)
- cars
- Car first aid kit
- Warning triangle
- Reflective vest for drivers
- Tyre repair kit or spare wheel*
Not mandatory if a 24/7 assistance service is arranged for the vehicle providing tire repair throughout the Czech Republic. It is also not mandatory if the vehicle is equipped with tires of a special design that allows emergency driving after a puncture (so-called run-flat tires)
